African Flameback Angelfish (Centropyge acanthops) Care
The African Flameback Angelfish, Centropyge acanthops, is also known as the Orangeback Angelfish and African Pygmy Angelfish. These beautiful fish are hardy and do best in either a well-established reef aquarium or fish-only tank. They come from both East Africa and Brazil. Their head, upper sides, dorsal, and caudal fins are yellow; the lower part of their body and anal fin are black with purple dots.
These fish are omnivores that should be fed both green and meaty foods, including mysis or brine.
African Flameback Angelfish do best in tanks of at least 55 gallons and that have plenty of hiding places. They have been known to nip at some SPS and polyp corals in reef tanks.
