Overview
The Rusty Angelfish, Centropyge ferrugata, is also known as the Rusty Pygmy Angelfish. They come from the Western Pacific Ocean. These fish are a red or rust color with black spots on the body; the anal fin is dark and both the dorsal and anal fins are trimmed in bright. These dwarf angelfish are hardy and quite pretty.
The Rusty Angelfish are omnivores and feed primarily on algae; their diet should be supplemented with marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis shrimp, and other small meaty foods. They require an aquarium of at least a 70-gallons with large amounts of live rock for hiding and grazing.
They are considered reef safe with caution because they are known to nip at corals and clam mantles. It is best kept as the only Dwarf Angelfish in the tank.
