Venustus Angelfish (Centropyge venustus) Care
The Venustus Angelfish, Centropyge venustus, is also known as the Purple Mask Angelfish. These fish come from the Western Pacific Ocean region. These small angelfish display shades of bright blue, yellow, and purple.
They are omnivores that should be fed multiple times a day on algae, mysis, frozen shrimp, and high-quality angelfish foods. Venustus Angelfish are typically pretty shy and peaceful; however, as adults and larger, they can become aggressive towards other fish that are similar in size and colors.
Venustus Angelfish do best in aquariums that are 70 gallons or larger with plenty of live rock and places to graze and hide. They are considered reef safe with caution because they have been known to nip on clams and on rare occasions, both stony and soft coral.
