Evansi Anthias (Pseudanthias evansi) Care
The Evansi Anthias, Pseudanthias evansi, is also known as the Bartlett’s Fairy Bass. These fish come from the Indian Ocean region. Both males and females are yellow on the top and a pink-violet on the bottom with yellow spots. The tail and dorsal fin are both yellow.
Evansi Anthias are carnivores and require a diet including meaty foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, copepods and amphipods, and fortified marine fish food. They should be fed a couple of times a day. These anthias can be very finicky eaters, which makes them a bit more difficult to keep vs. other anthias.
These fish require an aquarium of at least 90 gallons and will do well in both reef tanks and fish-only tanks. They are schooling fish and need plenty of room to swim, good water flow, and places to hide in the tank. Anthias school in harems with one male and multiple females; if the male dies, the dominant female with change sex to become the male. They should be housed with other non-aggressive fish.
Anthias are reef safe and will not bother coral, inverts or other fish, except other anthias species.
