Black Cap Basslet (Gramma melacara) Care
The Black Cap Basslet, Gramma melacara, comes from the Western Atlantic Ocean, including the West Indies, Bahamas, and Central America. These fish have a bright purple body with a black diagonal black cap bisecting the eye and top of the head.
They are carnivores and should be fed a diet of small meaty foods, such as mysis shrimp, copepods, small marine fish, and other frozen foods.
Blackcap Basslets require an aquarium of a least 30 gallons that have plenty of live rock with hiding places. They prefer lower lighting and will establish their territory in an aquarium and should not be housed with others of their species.
These fish are easy to care for and are reef friendly.
