Klein’s Butterflyfish (Chaetodon kleinii) Care
The Klein’s Butterflyfish, Chaetodon kleinii, is also known as the Sunburst Butterflyfish and the Orange Butterflyfish. These fish come from across the entire Pacific Ocean. They have a yellow-orange body, white face, black eye band, and yellow dorsal, anal and tail fins.
Butterflyfish are omnivores and require a diet rich in both meaty foods and plant-based foods. They will eat flake food, algae, frozen plankton, mysis and brine shrimp, and live shrimp and worms. They should be fed several times a day.
The Klein’s Butterflyfish can reach lengths of up to 6″ and will do best in an aquarium of at least 120 gallons with plenty of live rock to graze on and hide in. They will thrive in large fish-only aquariums with lots of open swimming space and live rock hiding places.
These butterflyfish are hardier than many others, but are not reef safe.
