Yellow Tail Damsel (Chrysiptera parasema) Care
The Yellow Tail Damsel, Chrysiptera parasema, is also known as the Goldtail Demoiselle, Yellowtail Damselfish, and the Yellowtail Blue Damselfish. These fish come from the Western Pacific Ocean. They have a bright blue body and the caudal peduncle and much of the tail are yellow.
Although damselfish are colorful, hardy, reef safe, and affordable, these little fish can be very feisty and overly aggressive towards their tankmates.
Damselfish are omnivores and require a diet rich in both meaty and plant foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp, marine algae, and flake food.
The Yellow Tail Damsel can grow to be about 3″ and can be housed in aquariums as small as 30 gallons with plenty of live rock. These cute little fish are territorial and once acclimated to an aquarium, they consider the entire tank to be “their” territory.
These fish are reef safe and will not bother coral or invertebrates, but may be very aggressive towards other fish.
