Flame Hawk (Neocirrhites armatus) CARE
The Flame Hawkfish, Neocirrhites armatus, comes from throughout the Pacific Ocean region. They have a red body with black coloring around the eyes and along the top of their body.
Hawkfish are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as marine fish and crustacean flesh, clams, and other marine meaty foods and/or frozen carnivore foods.
Flame Hawkfish require an aquarium of 30 gallons or more with plenty of live rock for hiding and perching places. These fish are semi-aggressive and should not be kept with peaceful fish like anthias, dartfishes, small gobies and flasher wrasses.
They are considered reef safe “with caution” because although they are safe with coral, they may attack both fish and invertebrates.
