GEOMETRIC PYGMY HAWKFISH (Plectranthias inermis)
The Geometric Pygmy Hawkfish, Plectranthias inermis, is also known as the Chequered Perchlet and the Blotchy Perchlet. These fish come from the Indo-West Pacific region. They have an attractive mottled pattern of red and white on their body.
Hawkfish are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as marine fish and crustacean flesh, clams, and other marine meaty foods and/or frozen carnivore foods.
Arc Eye Hawkfish require an aquarium of 30 gallons or more with plenty of live rock for hiding and perching places. These fish are semi-aggressive and should not be kept with peaceful fish like anthias, dartfishes, small gobies and flasher wrasses.
They are considered reef safe “with caution” because although they are safe with coral, they may attack both fish and invertebrates.
