Lyretail Hawkfish (Cyprinocirrhites polyactis) CARE
The Lyretail Hawkfish, Cyprinocirrhites polyactis, is also known as the Swallowtail Hawkfish. These fish come from the Indo-West Pacific region. They have a mottled pattern of yellow-orange to brownish on the body.
Hawkfish are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as marine fish and crustacean flesh, clams, and other marine meaty foods and/or frozen carnivore foods.
Lyretail Hawkfish require an aquarium of 30 gallons or more with plenty of live rock for hiding and perching places. These fish are semi-aggressive and should not be kept with peaceful fish like anthias, dartfishes, small gobies and flasher wrasses.
They are considered reef safe “with caution” because although they are safe with coral, they may attack both fish and invertebrates.
