Black Cap Jawfish (Opistognathus randalli) CARE
The Black Cap Jawfish, Opistognathus randalli, comes from the Western Pacific Ocean. They have a white body with orange vertical stripes, a dark head, and black spot on the front of the dorsal fin.
These fish are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp and a variety of finely chopped seafood. They should be fed multiple times a day.
Black Cap Jawfish require an aquarium of 30 gallons or large with plenty of live rock and a good sandbed. They are known to jump and will leap out of tanks without a lid.
They are reef safe and will not bother corals, fish, but will eat tiny invertebrates.
