Coral Banded Shrimp (Stenopus hispidus) Care
The Coral Banded Shrimp, Stenopus hispidus, is also known as the Boxer Shrimp. These shrimp come from the tropical seas around the world. They have a white body with red bands across the body and legs and long white antennae.
They are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods – if they can not find enough food scavenging in the tank, you can supplement their diet with pieces of clam, fish, and shrimp or live brine shrimp.
They can reach lengths of about 3″ and can be housed in everything between nano tanks and large aquariums. They are generally peaceful and will eat small bristleworms in the tank.
They are reef safe.
NOTE: These shrimp are very sensitive to changes in salinity so acclimation should be done very slowly.
